My daughter Michelle, met a boy with “the most beautiful blue eyes,” when she was 15 and a sophomore in high school. She had previously dated his best friend, so it was a full year, almost to the day, before the boy, Matt, asked her out. They have been together now for over 20 years.
They waited to marry until after they had both graduated from college, but there was never a doubt in anyone’s mind that was how they would end up. I have never seen two people more in love or more thoughtful of each other than they are. Two years ago they completed their family when they brought the happiest little boy I’ve ever seen, Joe, into their lives.
Matt had cancer as a young child and part of the live-saving treatment was to remove one of his kidneys. He has lived his life knowing that he was at risk for having the remaining kidney fail. He has worked hard to eat right and take care of his body, but despite his best efforts, he is now in end stage renal failure and needs a kidney urgently.
Every one on both sides of the family have offered to be a donor, but unfortunately, none of us are blood type O, which is what Matt needs. I am not normally the person who goes on social media talking about the low spots in my life or asking for prayers. However, this is not a normal situation. Any prayers or help you can send his way would be appreciated.
